Tasks of FUNTS

FUNTS is based on cooperation between 16 Finnish universities, combining scientific research on tourism with education in tourism and enhancing the universities’ shared knowledge and skills.

The tasks of FUNTS are:

to organise the shared multidisciplinary Basic, Subject and Advanced Studies on tourism in the member universities, as well as PhD courses for postgraduate students.
to promote research on tourism in national and international academic and private-public co-operation
to maintain a Finnish Information Service on Tourism Research

The multidisciplinary approach is also internationally an innovative way of developing research and teaching in universities. FUNTS education gives students thorough knowledge of tourism research carried out in various fields and also provides know-how and innovation skills to the tourist industry and other interest groups.
