COURSES THAT CAN BE INCLUDED IN POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

The network supports postgraduate education taking place in member universities by organising postgraduate courses in tourism. FUNTS doctoral school provides a common forum for the postgraduate students. FUNTS organises one PhD level seminar each semester as well as a summer course for postgraduate students. It is possible to take courses also as independent study courses according to the personal study plan. The independent study courses may be taken in English.

The teaching is otherwise in the Finnish language. On the PhD level some courses are, however, carried out in the English language, for instance the Summer Schools connected with international symposiums or conferences. The students have the right to take courses also from the Subject and Advanced Studies of FUNTS.

Who may apply?

In order to be eligible for postgraduate studies in FUNTS

  1. the applicant must be enrolled as an active postgraduate student in one of the member universities
  2. the research topic must be tourism-related
  3. the FUNTS studies are to be included in the postgraduate degree at the students own university.

When applying for FUNTS PhD Studies the students write a study plan which must be approved by both, the student's own university and the director of FUNTS, professor Antti Honkanen.
